nerve-wracking actually..

Heay guys,

I'm writing this entry right after my STAT 200 final paper. The final was in Pollock Testing Center and now, I'm just up stair in the computer lab..

So, how did it go? Hurm..
Surprisingly, I noticed that the final was cumulative when I had my breakfast at DD this morning. I was in a total shock! I took a deep breath, avoiding myself from a panic attack! haha..

So, dengan tenangnya, I went through all of the lecture materials and thank God, sempat 'flip through' sume. And there was one Arab guy, sitting beside me..tanye course ape..and i told him that I'm having a final in one hour time..and he said, you shouldn't be studying at this moment, just have your mind relaxed katanya..**dlm hati, tolong jgn menyebok boleh tak!!!**

but, what he said is true..there's no point for me rushing into the lecture notes at a very last moment. So, I walked out of DD and walked straight ahead to Pollock Testing Center. Arrived there like quarter past 11. Dlm hati still ade this rasa bersalah sebab x sempat nk faham betul2 all the materials. And I took out my lecture notes, and had myself reading for the very very very last moment!

Quarter to 12, I checked in and started my exam already!! I was surprisingly nervous!! Doa banyak2 and Alhamdulillah, dpt jawab sume. Am crossing finger for the result. Based on the final, I'm pretty sure I'll get an A in this course. And I hope my expection turns out to be true. Amin!

2 more finals to go:
-GEOCHEMISTRY
-HYDROGEOLOGY

Wish me luck guys, cause I need it!

peace~

Found this..

I found this picture after intentionally looking for it in Ustaz Azhar's blog archive. Taken during my visit to SMSM last July, with Pet, Dol, Zul and his lil sis..Sweet memory =)

Dusta Berkalang

Heay guys,
It is always raining lately here in State College. I hate it tho it reminds me of Seattle thus reminds me of Twilight..*woot woot!!*

And everyone is busy revising for the final. My first final is going to be on this Sunday, at 12pm, Statistics. Haven't done any revision just yet. Currently concentrating on those tougher courses: Geochemistry and Hydrogeology.

I am sitting by myself in the library, trying to focus on those radioactive lectures. It is tough, really tough. So, to loosen up a lil bit, I shift my attention to a laptop next to me, and God knows what am I doing..haha.. and now after series of 'youtube'ing, I found myself updating this blog.
*sigh*

Confession: It's hard for me to get over of the semi final juara lagu result for balada. It sucks man! So, I go for 'etnik kreatif' now. hehe..and one of the songs that will be competing in the final would be 'DUSTA BERKALANG'. I have never heard of this song before. I suppose it is sang by the winner of Akademi Nasyid, Aiman. I searched for his performance on Youtube, and layaaan jap. And guess what? I like it! I like the melody and I like the lyrics even more. This song is composed by Hafiz Hamidun and the 'puitis lyrics' is written by non other than Ahmad Fedtri Yahya.
I personally think this song can win the category, given Aiman gives a strong performance to outshine Mawi & Heliza.

Okay, this is the wonderful lyrics..enjoy!

Aiman - Dusta Berkalang Lyrics

Semua yang nista
Semua yang dusta
Tidak kan bertahan
Tidak kan tersimpan

Jadi debu berhamburan
Mencari mangsanya
Permainan mayapada
Begitu al-kisah nya

Kanan kiri berkalang
Pantas cari lindungan
Usah rebah hati

Manis racun dunia
Ramai insan tertawan
Rawan tersiksa

Ranumnya sang bulan
Merdunya seri bayu
Hanyalah puraan
Di alam khayalan

Dalam ombak hidup
Kita yang layari
Jangan kau tenggelam

Di arus masa
Harus kau kemudi
Pulang ke hakiki

-------------------------------

I think you guys should enjoy Aiman's performance during the semi final, and tell me what you guys think of it.

p/s: I better study ya'all!!

peace!!!

And he was just amazing!

Heay guys,

So finally it was John Legend concert last night! And one word: AMAYYYYYZIINGG!!!!!
I was totally blown away by his stage presence and his unique husky voice! The opening was grand - he walked through the crowd all the way to the stage. I love his slow ballad songs..the rendition was so powerful with he himself played the piano. The peak of the show was definitely when he sang Green Light, his single from Evolver. The response from the audience was so overwhelming- they sang and dance along with Legend. Some other facts:

-Raphael Saadiq sang as the opening act. He was good btw.
-The opening song was 'Used To Love You'. And I like the 'hola hola hola' thing.
-He picked one girl to 'Slow Dance' with him on the stage and he gave her a rose! Other girls in the audience were so envy!
-The backup singers were fantastic!
-All the audience sang Ordinary People with him. It was nice! But shame on me for not knowing the words =(
-He did charity too! He urged the audience to donate $5 to Show Me campaign.
-The last song was 'If You're Out There'. This song is so meaningful. During this song, the screen projected many faces of inspiration including Barack Obama.
-John Legend is from Ohio and we booed him! But he wished Penn State luck for the Bowl thingy. Again, he said he loves Buckeyes and got booed! LOL
-The concert took one a half hour.

It is definitely worth my $20!! The best concert I have ever attended to date. Sorry Carrie Underwood =)

And he is the truly Legend!

pictures!!! enjoy!
p/s: go listen to 'Ordinary People' and 'If You're Out There'. go now!
btw here's 'If You're Out There' video, performed during the Democratic National Convention 2008.

Salam sejahtera,

Hi y'alls! terasa rindu plak nak update blog nih, walaupun jauh di sudut hati, sgt malas sebenarnye..lol

ok, i just got back from Seattle last Saturday..The journey was ok sbb I slept all the way..haha..so, x perasan the flight landed..take off pun x prasan..haha..

basically, Seattle was just wonderful to me! The trip sgt best sbb kawan2 sume satu kepala! bak kate syira, people from Pennsylvania, Oklahoma, Tennessee and California came all the way to Seattle to meet the little Zurya..oh, and I just love her place! sgt cozy okayy, walapun kecik..mind you, kecik2 pun, dpt sumbat kteorg yg 9 ketul kesemuanya..merasalah mcm sardin seminggu tuh! haha..

and, talking about thanksgiving, ia takkan sempurna tanpa Black Friday shopping..haha..,this time, I went to Seattle Premium Outlet, 30minutes drive from Seattle Downtown..We reached there as early as 10.30pm, and half of the stores dah bukak da pon..so apa lagih! I serang Guess first, and then Calvin Klein. That were the 2 main stores where I shopped, plus Quicksilver..That was it! haha..then we sambung shopping kt downtown and I bought myself a Lacoste shoe..hehe..dah lame mengidam katanya..shopping tuh penaaaat sgt sampai dh x boleh berjalan dah..haha..sebab we all tak tido for more than 25 hours y'alls!

and now, I'm back in one piece..back in State College yg diliputi salji nih..oh ya, Seattle x sejuk pon, just hujan je..so, it was nothing compared to State College gituh! haha...

and my economy now is in recession..tak tau bile die akan bounce balik to stable state..haha..need more money for this coming winter break..(3 minggu je lagi..yea yea!) tp still not decide yet where to go..tgk bajet jugak la..hurm..*sigh*

John Legend Evolver World Tour

So, John Legend huh?

Who's that?? I heard about this particular singer, he's good, a talented songwriter and bla bla bla...but I've never listened to his songs..*sigh*

He's a Grammy Award winning America soul singer plus his debut album is a multi-platinum..that's huge man!!

These facts sound so good and what?? He's touring to Penn State!! Yes, his EVOLVER WORLD TOUR will reach Bryce Jordan Center on the December 4th (Evolver is his recent released album).

Question: Should I attend this concert?? It's definitely a one in a million opportunity. Plus, the ticket is just $20.

hurmm...should I??

still thinking tho...

squash freak?? you decide..

heay there my precious readers,

last week was a really busy week for me (academically, yes!)..dont wanna talk about it here..let bygone be bygone gituh..hehe..

finally!
i'm sooo relief because after one bloody month of messiness and untidiness, my apartment finally looks like a 'place to actually live in'. On Saturday morning (morning ke??), right after I jumped off my bed, I straight away cleaned the toilet..jadik makcik cuci tandas jap..omg! it was a heck of hardwork i tell you..banyak sgt tuuuuuuuut!!! hehehehehe....**jgn fikir yg bukan-bukan** and one of my roomates cleaned the kitchen and the other one took a gentle care on vacuum cleaning the entire house..and the result was breathtaking!! **gituh exeggerate**

inilah hasil tandas yg telah digilap itu..

took a shower and had my late lunch..my roomate prepared a fried rice earlier..thanks!

in the middle of my meal, Bard called saying they actually waited at the Graduate parking lot already..gosh! i forgot about our plan to go to Dicks Sporting Good to purchase something..

In less than 10minutes, we arrived at Dicks..Without wasting much time, kteorg terus meluru ke racquet department..there you go, there were a lot of squash racquet to choose from, variety of brands hence the price..after making some random and rational calculations in my head, I picked this Head Squash racquet which cost me GOOD amount of money..**half of my salary..sigh**

why did I buy the squash racquet?? the reason is so simple: I am sooo in love with this sport now..you do anything for love, don't you?? **panahan cinta katanya**

so, balik dari Dicks, lepak rumah Syahir jap to watch PSU-IOWA game which turned down the entire Happy Valley..An upset which was so unbelievable!! Daryll Clark is kissing good bye to the national championship! **dont wanna talk about it..so depressing!!**

okay!!
the best part..
at 8.30pm, I went to the Rec Hall to play squash with Bard, Syahir and Fawwaz.. nak test power racquet baru nih! and i looove my racquet!! best sgt..the feel of playing with your own racquet was just undescribeable..hahaha...after 2 and a half hours of non-stop games, we all pun balik la..bangun je pagi tadi, ya ampun!! penat satu badan..hahaha..

oh, sebelum terlupa, this is my brand new squash racquet =)

**p/s: berazam nak main squash at least 3 kali seminggu..so, am i a squash freak?? let u decide..hehe..

excited for the upcoming thanksgiving break..seattle, here i come!!!

malam..

Texas Instruments

Heay there precious readers,

Am preparing for exam right now. Sitting in front of a computer in the library. Tapi sempat je nak curik masa jap update blog..ngehehehe..

Texas Instruments? Does it rings a bell to you?
yes, it is a well known calculator manufacturer which i'd been introduced to when I went to KMB. I bought this so called graphic-display-calculator (TEXAS INSTRUMENTS TI-84)back then which cost me RM360. Nak jaga GDC nih, bukan bende yg mudah. Kalau terjatuh, sume org akan pandang and give an omg!-GDC-die-jatuh-matilah kinda look sebab everyone kt KMB tuh faham how precious this particular 'machine' is.

Nak dijadikan cerita, this morning, I had STAT lab at Boucke 241. The class started at 9.05am and I arrived as early as 8.50am. Sampai je lab, I straight away buat la the lab exercise and guess what, within 20 minutes, I was done. It was 9.25 when I walked out of the room.

Then I had breakfast at the HUB. Two doughnuts are good enough for me despite the fact that the campus is no longer selling Dunkin Donuts. Well, lepas makan bagai, took a bus to the library, and buat homework Geochem.

sudden sudden (teringat kak julia), when I encountered a problem that needs a calculation, I searched my bag for my PRECIOUS GDC but!! it wasn't in my bag. I had a sudden adrenaline rush! Kaku seketika. Fikir punya fikir, I realized that I might have left it at 241 Boucke. And I scolded myself for being so clumsy!! tu la, kelas habis 9.55am, aku keluar 9.25am! padan muka!

so, calmly, I checked my mailbox, harap2 TA would send me email saying he keeps my GDC. tapi nan ado!!! the only thing i hope is that Brooke, a girl sitting next to me in the class will keep it and give it back to me this Friday.

And late in the afternoon, I went back home. On my way, I decided to stop by at the bookstore nak usha calculator baru. I need to have one sebab the next day ada exam hydro which requires extensive use of calculator. Kat bookstore cam mahal jek, and I went to student bookstore at the downtown, and without much hesitation, I bought myself a new calculator, TEXAS INSTRUMENTS TI-30X IIB-an ordinary scientific calculator. And it cost me $16. Quite affordable for a Texas Instruments. Am happy despite sedih jugak my old GDC yg harganya $159 at this particular store hilang, after 3 tahun it served my needs. *sigh*

And after dinner, I rushed back to the library. Nak sambung study hydro and INART. The first thing I did was to check my mail, and guess what!!!
The TA, Matt did send me email this morning saying he keeps my GDC. The mail was sent at 9.48am!!! 7 minutes before my class officially ends. **gosh!!** Meaning to say, if i stayed a bit longer in the class, I would not have left my GDC behind.

So, LESSON LEARNED **mode kak Carrie jap**

p/s: Best jugak this new calculator, it brings back my secondary school memories~

November 2, 2008

wish me luck!

quick updates

heay there precious readers..

I was out of town last weekend. I've been to DC for a Raya celebration. It was great and indeed a good occasion to mingle with so many fellow Malaysians here in The State. And you know what, I met Qayyum, a guy from Miri who is studying at Tennessee. *jumpa juak kita kat US akhirnya..haha..*

And the full coverage with pictures is so coming soon!

I was really out of track these last couple of weekends. All these Raya thingy over'over'whelmed me **mind the double over** and I just easily got carried away thus I tend to leave my priority behind. And now, after checking my student planner, I realize that there is always something to be done, be it homeworks, essays, project and not to forget LAB REPORT! I've got to speed up my pace and play my game so that I can survive this semester with a better GPA than my previous semester. *crossing finger*

And just now, I just got 'squeezed' in into 2 other Geoscience classes for the Spring semester. They are Geosc 454 (Geology of Oil and Gas) and also Geosc 440 (Marine Geology). Initially, I wasn't able to get in these classes as they reached the class limit way before my assigned date to register. However, my Spring semester schedule is a little bit messy with a total of 19 credits. That's a lot!! My classes are here and there. Pretty hectic I can say. But I need to go to all of the classes first before deciding which class is to be chopped off my schedule board. hahaha..

Well, I need to start writing the lab report now and you guys have a great day!

bye~

The path I choose..

greetings my precious readers,

am feeling much better today..woke up early and went to STAT class..but omg! i was sooooo sleepy and drowsy!!! **nyquil effect maybe**

hurm..
I feel wanting to share with you guys some stories that give colors to my life..

the path i choose
yes, the story behind this path that i am choosing, which is pursuing a bachelors degree in Geoscience here in Penn State University.

here's how the story goes:

In a car, somewhere in Kuching, Bel phoned me saying that I was rejected for Petronas scholarship, and only God knows how terrible I felt at that moment. Then, I went back to Miri, knowing that there was hope no more for me to be a Petronas' scholar, and that the Matriculation Program registration day was just 4 days ahead! I wasn't even completed my registration form let alone the preparation for the moving-in-to-the-hostel kinda thing. Thank God that I have had the flight ticket. And after some busy days, flying to Labuan we were (Me with 6 other family members). I still remember the tears rollin' down my mom's cheek when we said goodbye to each other. I felt so sad too but, I've got a lot of friends to cheer me up!!

I was a Life Science student back in the matriculation, hoping to graduate with a good GPA and got accepted to UPSI to pursue a degree to be a Math instructor. That was my goal that time, leaving behind my hope and dream to serve Petronas.

One day, I got a phone call from my mom. She told me that she just received a huge envelope and there you go, I got an offer letter from MARA, to pursue a medical degree oversea! Oversea you all!! And there I was, jumping excitedly BUT!! are-you-sure-you-want-to-be-a-doctor? popped out of my mind. It made me think more than twice about my decision whether or not to accept this MARA scholarship. are-you-sure-you-want-to-be-a-doctor? I'm scared of blood for God sake!

And finally I made up my mind. I will stay here in Labuan, hoping still, to be a Math instructor instead of a gosh!-I'm-afraid-of-blood kind of doctor. I made everybody drops their jaw. All my close friends, new friends and even my family shocked with my decision. Why the hell are you rejecting the offer to pursue a degree oversea?? My answer was simple: I wasn't meant to be a doctor. I dont want to be someone I dont want to be. But, they asked, "Why at the first place you applied a medical scholarship?" *sigh* long story you guys..might need a special entry for that. hurm..i dont think so. The reason is simple: I was so overwhelmed by the fact that I got an 1A in my Biology for the SPM, hence thinking that I was perfect to be doctor. PATHETIC isn't it??

And my life as a matriculation student run as usual. But, there was one time, during lecture when I got a phone call from God knows who. But I neglected the call. And I got the same call one week later. I didn't pick it up too. But I asked my mom to find out. And guess what? It was Pn. Rashidah Ali from Petronas ESU, mentioning that I got a second chance and I needed to register to KYUEM the next day! Despite being excited of the news, i was thinking how am I gonna get out of the matriculation college in less than one day?? From what I observed, the process of leaving the college was time consuming.

And I needed to make another big decision. Should I accept this offer?? There was no way that I will make it to KYUEM the next day. I was at Labuan at that time, and what! I had to go to Perak the next day?? Impossible, I thought. So, I made what I consider as a groundbreaking decision: I asked my mom to call Pn Rashidah saying that I will not gonna make it, and thanks for the offer anyway.

**could you imagine that?? I've already got the scholarship which once I wasn't accepted, and now, I was the one who refuse to take it!!**

It wasn't easy to make this decision knowing I had a very short period of time to come out with my final says regarding the offer. And my mom told me that, "You are the only one who know the path that you are choosing. Whatever you go for, I'm behind you."

And that brought me into tears. Thank for your endless support mom! I love you sooo much!

And God is always there to grant my wish. Pn Rashidah called my mom a little while later that day, saying I could register to KYUEM the following week so that I have plenty of time to settle down with my moving out process.

ALHAMDULILLAH. I was so grateful and thankful to God for giving me this opportunity and thanks to Pn Rashidah too, for giving me this second chance **third chance perhaps?*

And, one day before the registration day, I was already in KL and Pn Rashidah called me. She mentioned that KYUEM actually doesn't offer Geology course hence I should be registering at KMB instead. I didn't even know a thing about KMB and what IB (International Baccalaureate) was all about. But, after a long and winding road at KMB which I can say worth a lifetime, I passed with flying colors in IB. *grin*

And, here I am right now, sitting in the grand Pattee Library of The Pennsylvania State University, leading my life as a Geoscience major student, and most importantly, a Petronas Scholar.

And this is the real path I choose.

**curtain fall**

I did it!

**clap clap**

I finally baked my very first 'kek lapis' (1st in the history of my life) last night. It is called 'kek lapis citrawarna'. It's a mixture of 4 different tastes: coffee, strawberry, lemon and pandan.
Well, I started baking at 12am and the cake was completely baked at about 3am. And I was excited!! Here's how it looks like:
And, 9 hours later, at about 2.30pm, I baked my second cake called 'Kek Lapis Coklat'. Now with the help of a friend of mine, Zharif yang excited gler nak join me baking kek lapis. So, kteorg pun buatla and it was done at about 5.45pm and Zharif left without even had a chance to see how the cake really looks like. This particular kek lapis isn't as 'meriah' as the 1st one sebab ada 2 colors je, brown and yellow; with 2 tastes: chocolate and orange. And I love this cake more sebab die lagi moist and sedaappp!!!!!! waaaaa!!!

Gambar:Fawwaz tasted both cakes and he too, agrees that the 2nd cake is far more tastier than the 1st one. Hence die cakap, "Haleem, jangan bagi banyak2 kat orang kek ni. Simpan je untuk kite makan." hahaha..jangan risau, kek ini akan dipersembahkan kpd those yg berkunjung to my apartment this coming Aidilfitri. hehehe...

Me in action:

Kesimpulannya, in less than 20hours, I baked 2 kek lapis..huhuhu..impressive isn't it?? LOL
